Polka Dot Bedlam was created from a vintage children’s storybook and utilizes bits and pieces from a 1920s illustration referencing a kids’ bedroom.
Bruce Helander is one of the best-known artists in Florida, as well as, a nationally recognized artist whose work is in over fifty museum permanent collections, including the Whitney, Guggenheim and Metropolitan. He is a member of the Florida Artists Hall of Fame, an accolade he shares with artists Rauschenberg and Rosenquist, among others.
Helander received a master’s degree in fine arts from the Rhode Island School of Design and is a former White House Fellow of the National Endowment for the Arts and a a four-time grant winner of the New York Foundation for the Arts
He has exhibited his work in over 200 solo exhibitions around the world including London, Paris, Venice, Stockholm, Dubai, Moscow, Tokyo, New York and Los Angeles, among others.
