With gliding curves and gentle movements, Moondance is a large-scale Swirl series painting that creates the feeling of a dreamy, romantic, moonlit moment. Heavily textured acrylic mediums, add great texture to this work. The two large panels of stretched canvas were put together to simulate the enrapturing experience one feels when observing the moon.
The Swirl Series: The Swirl series grew from Krutick’s interests in creating movement with large gestures on a canvas. The method begins by applying thick layers of oil or acrylic paint into the canvas with dramatic motions. Once applied, the paint is given time to dry. Angles and shapes are then carved and inscribed into the layers using a palette knife, driving the narrative of the piece.
Inspired by childhood doodles and her experience in conducting, the Swirl series is an evolution from a playful, musical background into a visual way to communicate rhythmic, lyrical stories.
