For Slonem the decorative feathers of the birds- the ornamental skin of animals in general – suggests their inner goodness, that is indicates they belong to a better more innocent world and our own. They have been created by nature but their  decorative appearance – which in Slonem’s painting is abstracted into an autonomous, pure surface, intensifying it without losing its organic flavor, make them seem particularly supernatural.
