Oriane Stender is a native of San Francisco who now lives and works in Brooklyn. She starts her works with items of personal or cultural relevance —  books, photographs, currency — she combines/adds/subtracts/transforms them by writing, drawing, cutting, and stitching, in order to create objects that can be read and experienced through multiple layers and levels. Liz Taylor is combined with a dollar bill.

Her work is represented in the collections of de Young Memorial Museum/Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco; Federal Reserve Board, Washington, DC; JP Morgan Chase; Synopsys Inc.; Arkanasas Art Center; Centerbridge Partners, LP, New York; International Collage Center, Milton, PA; and many private collections.
