Collection: Margaret Neill
Margaret Neill (b.1958-) is an American Gestural Contemporary Abstract artist from Ohio, that lives and works in Brooklyn, NY. She uses singular and large, gestural brush work to create curved lines that flow into waves of shapes and curvilinear forms. Famous for her contemporary color-fields, she creates her work on canvas, linen and paper using colored pencil, charcoal, graphite and paint.
Neill lets her hands free-form continuous lines of multi-layered geometric formations and shapes. This continuity and fluidity in shape and color reflect her view on the relationship between time and space, which transcends visual interpretation.
Neill's work has been reviewed in Art in America, The Brooklyn Rail, and The New York Sun. Her works can be found in numerous collections including, Yale University Art Gallery, Colby College Museum of Art, and The New York Public Library.
